By the way, there&#039;s a nuance within baseball to &quot;shagging flies.&quot; It refers to catching and/or collecting balls hit during batting practice. Often, bench players and pitchers get stuck doing it. It doesn&#039;t necessarily mean you catch it on the fly. It can also mean just going to pick up a ball that&#039;s rolled to a stop near you. You never &quot;shag&quot; a fly during an actual game.
